Working with Reglonix
How an engagement is structured, run and closed.
Five engagement models cover most of what we are asked to do. Each is scoped in writing before work begins and closed against the criteria set at the start.
Engagement models
Pick the shape that matches the requirement.
When it applies. A specific question with a decision attached to it.
A fixed scope, a stated deliverable and an agreed close date. Most strategy, diligence, diagnostic and technical assurance work runs this way. Scope is written before the work starts and changes to it are agreed in writing.
- Written terms of reference
- Agreed evidence base
- Written conclusion and implications
- Closing session with the decision-makers
When it applies. A continuing requirement for senior judgement rather than a single answer.
Standing access to a named practitioner across an agreed period, with an agreed monthly commitment. Used where questions arrive continuously and the value is in continuity of context rather than in a single report.
- Named practitioner
- Agreed monthly commitment
- Standing access between sessions
- Quarterly written review
When it applies. A senior seat needs to be held while the organisation changes.
Fractional or full-time senior leadership for a defined period, including CSO, COO or CRO roles. The mandate includes an explicit handover objective. The role is not intended to become permanent by default.
- Defined mandate and authority
- Agreed reporting line
- Stated handover objective
- Successor readiness plan
When it applies. An independent technical opinion is required before a commitment.
A bounded review of a system, supplier, programme or quality position against a stated standard or requirement. Used before procurement, before audit, and where an internal view needs external corroboration.
- Stated assessment criteria
- Evidence log
- Findings with severity
- Corrective action priorities
When it applies. The requirement is that the organisation can do this itself afterwards.
A structured training or mentoring programme built against a defined capability gap. Delivered to a cohort or one-to-one, and measured against what participants can do at the end rather than attendance.
- Capability baseline
- Programme designed to the gap
- Practitioner-led delivery
- Assessment against stated outcomes
The method
Five stages, applied at the depth the mandate requires.
Engage
Understand the mandate, context, constraints and success criteria.
Diagnose
Assemble evidence, test assumptions and map the operating reality.
Design
Create a practical response with clear options, risks and trade-offs.
Deliver
Execute with discipline and manage change.
Sustain
Embed capability, transfer knowledge and measure the outcome.
Terms of business
What you can hold us to.
Mandate acceptance
We accept mandates where we can add decisive value. Where we are not the right firm for the requirement, we say so at the first conversation rather than the third.
Scope
Scope, deliverables, timeline and success criteria are agreed in writing before work begins. Changes are agreed in writing as well.
Information handling
Sensitive work runs on need-to-know access. Information handling arrangements are agreed before material is exchanged.
Independence
Where we hold a position that is uncomfortable for the sponsor, it goes in the report. Conclusions are not negotiated.
Close
Every engagement closes against the criteria set at the start, with a written conclusion and a stated position.
Commercials
Priced against the scope, not the hours in the room.
Defined-scope engagements are quoted as a fixed fee against a written scope. Retainers are quoted as a monthly commitment. Interim roles are quoted against the days required. Capability programmes are quoted per cohort or per participant depending on format.
Expenses are agreed in advance. Where scope changes, the change and its effect on fee and timeline are agreed in writing before the work continues.
We do not quote before we understand the requirement. The first conversation exists to establish whether there is a mandate worth quoting for.
